Watercolour on Paper
Framed: 95 x 77cm

Tyler is known for manipulating watercolours to create vibrancy, iridescence and emotional depth in his portraits, there is a strong narrative aspect to this work which often captures absurd but layered moments in the unique lived experience of those he paints. In this piece, he captures a child-like seriousness and somberness within his subject – a kid he photographed in Nepal.

Artist’s Statement:
I wanted to explore the spectrum of emotions within a child – for they are so fully felt. The emotion I have unpacked here is solemnity and determination, captured by the eyes of my subject.
