Western Australian artist Rob Forlani resides in Perth and has solo exhibited nationally and internationally with collectors across Australia in Sweden, England, South Korea, New Zealand and the USA. “I’m in a sense…an improvisational artist, improvising a real life situation into Art.” Rob is known for building impressions through brushy colour and geometry. More abstract than representational, he presents loose rectilinear geometry that may allude to windows, doors, or passageways. He consistantly utilises symbolism to mark his marks on the canvas as a starting point, which for Rob is crucial. This then guides his brush strokes into abstract pieces. Every piece has a meaning as Rob attempts to precipitate events in the real world into more of a concrete circumstance, “a kind of Abstract Realism if such a thing exists…This is my method.”
