Like always, Rob’s paintings are decorated with symbolism. In the piece ‘Elixir’, he explores the state of mind of keeping a happy mentality.

Rob remembers his mother giving him dark-coloured tonics for health, which he initially refused to accept (represented by the ‘X’s). Rob captured this memory through the use of colour, combined with his passion for travel, creating spaces in our brain to climb into (denoted by the green ‘paddock’).

Artist Statement:
“My work explores the relationship between the mind and the essence of tangibility. At first glance it seems like pure abstraction of form and colour; not quite landscape – not quite realism. Interpretation is the conscious control of our emotions – the rest is up to the observer.”
