This work was born from a warm summer day when I saw a woman standing in the wind and enjoying the refreshing coolness of the summer breeze. I wanted to create a sculpture that reflects the lightness and joie de vivre of summer.
The main focus of Stefan Neidhardt’s work is life-size female sculptures made from massive tree trunks – where he usually aims to be as realistic as possible. In contrast, his small-format female figures are mostly stylized and feature deliberately exaggerated body proportions.
