Suzy is passionate about the landscape that has been the backdrop to her fortunate life. Having lived across the remote Kimberley for close to 30 years, her journey with this country has been the inspiration for the work she creates. She holds a strong belief that the natural environment has much to offer us as we go about our fast-paced life.
Suzy has been painting with oils and inks and a combination of the two for many years. A dedicated artist, she has had 10 highly successful solo exhibitions and numerous collaborative shows. Her work is held in collections throughout Australia and overseas.
Over the last fifteen years, she has developed an archival technique of creating fine art on shimmering aluminium panels. Modern and slimline, the paint presents differently on the aluminium, under lights these works come alive, they appear to be lit from within and entice the viewer to step forward for a closer look.
Flecked with gold, the complex colour layers have visual depth. These flowing landscapes draw the viewer in with startling colours and drifting lines to reveal what sits just outside of what we know. Suzy’s use of orbs and fluid forms interwoven with the natural forms we recognise such as trees and birds evoke a deeper sense of understanding of the earth, these pieces are a snapshot of another world, another place, another way.
