The Glypothek Munich is a Neo Classical building commissioned by King Ludwig to house his enormous collection of ancent Greek and Roman statues. The gallery was built between 1816 and 1830. Ludwig dreamed of Munich becoming the Athens of Germany – henceforth envisioning a monument of such valour and stature.
