Art has always been a part of Josh Windram’s world. Growing up in his family’s framing business, Windram Art, he developed an early connection to creative spaces. While he began as a Master framer, today Josh has emerged as a recognised artist in his own right, working from two private studios in Vasse and Nannup in Western Australia’s South West.
Josh’s path to becoming an artist wasn’t a straight one. His early adult life was marked by struggles with substance abuse, which led to losing connection with loved ones and experiencing homelessness. In 2016, at rock bottom, he reached out to his family and, with their support, began a recovery journey through Fresh Start. It was a turning point—one that demanded everything of him, but ultimately gave him his life back.
As part of his healing, Josh began working alongside a professional artist. What started as a therapeutic process soon became something more—an artistic passion that would reshape his future. He briefly studied Art Therapy, aiming to support others on similar paths, but soon realised his true calling lay in creating art himself.
Since then, Josh has rebuilt his life. A chance reunion with a childhood friend led to love, and the couple settled in the South West to begin anew. Now married, Josh has reconnected with his family and shares close relationships with his five children and step-daughter. His story is one of transformation—and his art reflects the depth, hope, and beauty that came from those hard-won experiences.
